Being part of the Pharma Times Nursing Industry Excellence Awards was an incredible experience. It gave us the chance to reflect and present the impact of our work and to celebrate the team. Winning an award is an honour and a testament to the team I’m privileged to work with.
Taking part in the awards day was both challenging and rewarding. Presenting our innovation, Alex and Archie, and seeing the dedication from judges and fellow nurses really brought home the impact of creative nursing solutions. To win both the Innovation Excellence and Overall Nursing Industry Excellence Awards was an incredible honour. It was an amazing day—one that highlighted the value of our distraction tools and reinforced why we do what we do. I’d encourage anyone considering it to go for it!
As nurses, we often overlook our own achievements and personal growth. This year, I chose to lead by example. I always encourage my team to celebrate their accomplishments, so I put myself forward for the PharmaTimes Excellence Awards. The process became a personal journey, revealing just how far I’ve come in my management career. I enjoyed every moment—and receiving a Highly Commended award was a proud and humbling bonus
Claire and I were delighted to be shortlisted and amazed to win the Educator Excellence Award. We would encourage everyone to apply, it is a great opportunity to share and spread the great work that we do as nurse. We accepted our award on behalf of all learning disability nurses and for all people with a learning disability. Due to health inequalities people with a learning disability are more likely to die up to 20 years younger than the rest of the population, 49% of these deaths could be avoided with better access to healthcare and amongst this is quality person-centred holistic medication reviews. This award enabled us the opportunity to ensure that this is not only highlighted but addressed. We would encourage everyone to enter.
